Honoring Legacy. Empowering Tomorrow.

About Us

The Hazel Erby Foundation, based in University City, Missouri, was created to honor the life and legacy of Hazel M. Erby — a trailblazer, public servant, and the first Black woman elected to the St. Louis County Council. Hazel devoted her life to advancing equity, uplifting families, and empowering young people to lead with courage and compassion. Guided by her belief that strong communities are built through opportunity and inclusion, the foundation continues her work by investing in education, employment, and community welfare initiatives. Through programs like Hazel Erby Day, mentorship opportunities, and civic engagement efforts, the foundation seeks to inspire future leaders and carry forward Hazel’s vision of a stronger, more united community.
